“Flux” is an omnipotent piece where nature and culture collide. It reveals the tension between the two topics, and the way society reacts to the aftermath of their disasters’ similarly. The aggression humans feel towards uncontrollable events in nature, and the anger we feel within uncontrollable cultural circumstances are both demonstrated within the piece; fused together with a black rod splitting the painting through the middle. In order to create higher standards of humanity the artist is asking the viewer to question their surroundings and what they can individually change to become more aware. The intention of the work is for the audience to gain stronger roots to the earth, which will in turn guide them to impact human behavior.
